Backup Software - Half Price!
Just about every PC user knows that it's important to keep backups of any important documents or photos stored on a computer in case something goes wrong - but what about the software on that PC? Most of us spend time adding extra programs and tweaking Windows to run just the way we want it, and even if you do have all the necessary discs and keycodes to hand putting everything back in place after a serious PC problem could take days. Unless, of course, you have an image backup.
Image backups take a copy of everything on your computer, including Windows and all its settings and any programs that are installed. To make one you'll need a suitable program, and today we've found one of the best, Acronis True Image Home 2010, for just £20 - and that's half the regular price. Click the jump for details.

AVG Anti-Virus : Save £22, just £6
AVG is very well known for making its basic anti-virus program completely free to download. While AVG free gives excellent basic protection, however, it isn't exactly packed with features.
To get the full set of anti-virus tools the company asks you to pay £28 for its full anti-virus product. As well as the protection found in AVG Free, this includes a rootkit scanner, protection against phishing attacks, a special mode designed to work with video games, the company's web shield technology and technical support from the company.
At £28 the program isn't bad value, but we can do much better. Today we've found a store selling this full paid-for anti-virus suite for just under £6 - that's a £22 discount on the recommended price. Click the jump for details.

Upgrade to Windows 7 for just £43
On Thursday Microsoft will, at long last, release the latest version of Windows. Windows 7 is a massive improvement over its predecessor, and a great upgrade for users of Windows XP and Vista - read our full review here for details.
On the other hand, it isn't always that cheap. Microsoft did sell some copies for just £50 each, but now that offer has expired most stores are offering Windows 7 Home Premium for around £80 to £100. As of today, though, there's a way to get three copies for just £43 each.
The Home Premium Family Pack includes everything you need to upgrade three computers running either XP or Vista to Windows 7. Its recommended price is £150, but we've found a way to get it for just £130. Click the jump for details.

Windows 7: Beat the Price Rise
You've probably heard the recent news that Microsoft has almost doubled the price for a full, boxed copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. If you'd rather have a complete new copy rather than the upgrade edition, the official price from Microsoft is now a whopping £150.
But we've found a far better price: £65. That's £85 off the RRP, and gets you a full, legal, non-OEM boxed copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. Click the jump for details.

FREE - Nero 9 Disc Burning Software
We've listed a couple of remarkably cheap software products here in the past, but this one has to be the best yet: a copy of Nero's CD and DVD burning software, legally and completely free.
Sadly this isn't the entire suite of software that retails for £40, but you do get perhaps the most useful part of the product, especially for Windows XP users: the tool that allows you to burn CD and DVD discs.
Windows XP doesn't include any tools for DVD burning as standard, making this an essential download for owners of netbook computers running XP. For details on where to get your copy, free, click the jump.

The cheapest way to get Windows 7 - just £45
Windows 7 isn't being formally released until October, but if you can't wait to move on from Vista or XP then now's the time to strike. Microsoft is releasing a limited number of copies at vastly reduced prices if you pre-order one now.
The pre-orders are available from many stores, with Windows 7 Home Premium E selling for around £50 and Windows 7 Professional E selling for around £100. If you want a copy of Home Premium, however, click the jump - we've found the store offering the biggest discount, which brings it down to a fantastic price of £45 per copy.
The best price on Windows 7 Home Premium E can be found at Amazon.co.uk here. You'll pay £44.97, saving over £105 on the price in October.
Roxio Software - Save 10%
Nobody likes it when they click a link on a website and, instead of the page they wanted, see the dreaded "404 Error" staring back at them. Today, though, we hear that Roxio - makers of the rather excellent Creator 2009 suite of disc burning and media tools - has gone as far as offering a rather handy ten per cent discount to everyone who sees one on its website.
Of course, you could spend hours scavenging around the Roxio website trying to find a link that goes nowhere - or you could just get the code the quick way and save yourself a fiver off some handy software. Click the jump to find out how.
So, how to get the code? We could publish it here, but that seems rather against the spirit of the promotion, so instead here's a suggestion. There are probably many hundreds of pages on the Roxio website, but there will be even more that don't exist. We suggest that www.roxio.com/pleasegivemeadiscount might be a nice place to start looking.

Bullguard Internet Security for just £3.44
Not so long ago, when we brought you Kaspersky Anti-Virus for just a tenner, we thought that was likely to be the cheapest security software deal we see for a year or two. As it turns out, we were wrong: if you only need software for one PC, we've found something suitable for the princely sum of £3.44.
Unlike the Kaspersky discs, which were OEM versions, this is a complete boxed copy of Bullguard Internet Security for less than £4 - and postage is included. Click the jump for details.
So, why so cheap, and where can you get it? First, the catch: the box contains Bullguard Internet Security 5, which is an old version, but you can upgrade to version 8 by simply downloading it and using the same key code - full instructions are given here.
Version 8 won't work with Windows Vista, but according to comments on the page the key code will work with Version 8.5 as well, and that's Vista compatible. We can't guarantee this method, so we suggest the deal for XP users only.

Photoshop Elements - Save £40
There are dozens of photo editing tools out there - some very expensive, some very cheap and some completely free. One of the best for home users is Adobe's Photoshop Elements, though, and we've found a great deal that'll save you £40 on the RRP for this software.
Elements includes all the photo editing tools you'd expect, such as red-eye removal and cloning, and also includes tools for creating backups and organising your images by tag. A clever built-in tool allows you to assemble a perfect group photo from several different images of the same subjects, so family portraits without blinking eyes or distracted children are made easier than ever. For more information on the features available, click here.
Photoshop Elements 7 is the latest version of this software, and we've found a shop selling brand new and boxed copies for £50 - that's £40 less than the RRP. Click the jump to find out where.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 - Under £4
Every Windows PC user knows that anti-virus software is essential, but if you go into a high-street store you'll normally find products costing £40, £50 or more - especially if you have more than one computer to protect.
Today, though, we've found the latest version of a well-known anti-virus program at a bargain-basement price: a three PC copy of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 for under £10. That's a good enough price for one computer, but if you do have three PCs it works out at less than £4 per PC. For details of this offer, and where to get it, click the jump.
This one-year, three-computer license would normally cost £40, so why's it so cheap? The answer is simple: this is an OEM product. As such it doesn't include a fancy box, manuals or, crucially, any support from Kaspersky - all you're getting is the product and a license that allows you to receive updates for one year.

Pinnacle Studio 12 - Half Price
There was a time when shooting home movies required expensive equipment, rolls of film and the patience of a saint while waiting for processing - and even then the results were dire, with most reels containing only a few minutes of decent footage. Then came huge VHS camcorders, then tiny MiniDV models, and now many of us carry a tiny video camera around all the time in the form of a mobile phone. But even with all this great new technology, one problem remains - how on earth do you convert hours and hours of raw footage into something you might, you know, actually want to watch?
The key is to get your hands on some video editing software. Windows XP and Vista include a tool called Windows Movie Maker, but it's incredibly basic, so most of us will have to splash out on something more powerful. Today we've found an ideal package: Pinnacle's Studio 12 Plus, which normally sells for £70, for just £35. To find out where to get this half-price deal, click the jump.
Pinnacle Studio 12 Plus normally sells for £70, and can sometimes be found for around £50 if you shop around. To buy it for just £35 visit Amazon here.
