Few computer accessories are as handy as USB thumb drives - also known as memory keys, flash drives and, incorrectly, memory sticks. With one of these nifty gadgets you can quickly and easily transfer files from one PC to another, with no need to muck about with floppy disks, CDs or DVDs.

Not so long ago the main problem with USB thumb drives was one of capacity: 512MB or 1GB of storage might be handy, but it was nowhere near the amount you could store on even a single-layer DVD.
